I completed my National Diploma in Photography in 1977 and started my own studio undertaking general commercial photography.
I ran my own successful studio until the late 90’s specialising in jewellery, food, room set and still life photography, shooting on 4x5 inch color transparency (reversal) film. In the early 90’s after spending time in the USA, I submitted a portfolio of published material to New York and was accepted as a member of ASMP (American Society of Media Photography).
I was invited to join the Technikon Natal as a lecturer in the Photographic Department in 1998. I obtained a National Higher diploma in Photography (4th year) “Cum Laude”, within 18 months. In 2000 I became Head of the Department of Photography.
The new and very exciting digital era enticed me to return to the commercial world of Digital Photography.
In February 2009 I accepted a position as senior photographer for HomeChoice. I was employed to set up 3 studios and oversee the in house photographers.
In 2016 I returned to being a self-employed photographer and lecturing photography part time at Ruth Prowse School of Art in Cape Town. |
